What is Comprehensive Counseling Care?

Comprehensive Counseling Care is an approach that I aim to provide for my clients. Through this approach, I offer a range of counseling modalities to promote the mental and spiritual well-being of my clients. Counseling services also include Christ-centered counseling for individuals and families who prefer a Christian worldview to be woven into their treatment.

As a Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor, Registered Play Therapist Supervisor, and EMDR Trained Clinician, I have received formal training that prepares me to work with children (ages 2 and up), teens, adults, couples and families. The specialties of my practice include treating clients for problematic psychosocial symptoms related to trauma, grief & loss, substance abuse, anxiety, and medical illnesses.

How can counseling help?

Less-than-nurturing backgrounds can leave us with painful memories, negative beliefs about ourselves, destructive choices, or can negatively affect the dynamics of our current relationships. Unfortunate life circumstances and upsetting events can leave us with unresolved negative thoughts, painful/intrusive memories, feelings of hopelessness or unworthiness, depression, fears and anxiety, relationship problems, or destructive choices. These events may even have changed the way you see yourself, or others. Counseling can provide an opportunity where such experiences can be processed in a way that allows you to assign a new meaning to a painful past, as well as, better understand and explore solutions for the problems caused by our unresolved pasts.

"Your vision will become clear only when you can look into your own heart. Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes." -C. Jung

What can I expect from my counseling experience?

I use counseling approaches such as, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), play therapy (the "language" of children), the use of sandtray in therapy, and other creative and expressive modalities to encourage God's design for healing from hurts, losses, and unfortunate life events. My integration of verbal and non-verbal expressive techniques into the therapy session help my clients increase their awareness, overcome their unhelpful beliefs and areas of emotional "stuckness," and thrive in their spiritual journey toward wholeheartedness and restoration.

What can I expect from counseling?

I approach the therapeutic relationship in a warm and personalized way, with humor and creativity to enhance the counseling experience. I aim to help my clients realize their God-given strengths and resources to rely on in their spiritual journey of restoration. My use of play, expressive and creative, and non-verbal techniques enhance traditional "talk therapy" and bring depth to my client's session.
